I moved to Little London in 1989 with my wife Mary and 3 daughters, my eldest finding her passion for horses at Pamber Riding School. I became a parish councillor in July 2017 and later, elected as its chairman in May 2023. I have no affiliation to any political party.
We all have our own views on what is good or bad for the area and these have to be considered when making decisions. My underlying desire is to nurture a sense of community and pride across the parish when making my thoughts know. One of my achievements is the War Horse Memorial at the Plough Inn. Commissioned and installed to commemorate 100 years since the end of WWI. It is now a registered war memorial and dedicated to Arthur Pearce, a Little London resident who was shot by a German sniper at the start of the war on 23/24 August 1914.
Through the work to place the memorial at the Plough I became aquatinted with the War Horse Memorial in Ascot and am now an ambassador for them. They manage The Animal Purple Poppy Fund, donating money to related charities. To help raise finds I organise and run the War Horse Walk through Pamber Forest, which is held yearly on the August Bank Holiday Monday. Please join us and support the Fund.

I have lived in the Parish for 50 years and have been a Councillor for more than 35 years, 9 of which I served as Chair of the Parish Council. My principle interests are and have been, affordable housing for local people, improving community facilities and maintaining our rural identity.

A Pamber resident since 1977 when I moved into the newbuild Jubilee Close, moving to The Glen in 1991. Co-opted on to the Parish council later that year and continued to be a member since then. Elected to the Borough Council and served from 1992 – 2008 as a member for Calleva and again fron 2012 to 2021 as a member for Pamber and Silchester. In the later period I had the honour to be Mayor in 2014-15 and Chair of the Audit and Accounts Committee from 2015-2021. As A member I was involved with the Basingstoke Theatre Trust, The AWE Local Liaison Committee, and The Pamber Forest Advisory Committee.
Currently, I am a Trustee for Basingstoke and District Young Carers, The Basingstoke Charities, and the Aldworth Trust. I also sit on the Residents Committee of my time share resort in Portugal. Married to Tricia with two step-children who have long flown the nest.

I joined Pamber Parish Council as I strongly believe we are the voice for our community, we represent the people we live amongst. I have only been a councillor for a short period of time but have enjoyed partaking in conversations about development, achievements and success in my community. Becoming a parish councillor has given me the opportunity to help the parish which has supported my family over the years, which we love being part of.

I have lived in Pamber Parish since 1984, firstly in Pamber Heath and, since 1996, in Little London and have been a councillor for 20 years. I volunteer as a gardener at St Michael’s Hospice and as a room guide at The Vyne. I am particularly concerned with maintaining the rural identity of the South Ward and fostering community relations.
